Sorry no idea, havnt bought factory ammo for years so wouldn't know whats available

Must admit I'm the same, ... well other than 223, keep finding deals on so haven't stopped to work up a load.


@mehtat, let me know if you'd like to see what a couple feel like on the range. I need to get @TimeRider behind the trigger some more too, just so she can beat her dad again at the next Toby shoot.

Took a while for you to catch on Gibo Not like you not to be up with the play You will probably have to buy a 243 in the future too.

This would be hard to beat as a first rifle 7.62x39 Norinco BUSH RANGER | Trade Me

beat me to it boaraxa, in that cartridge it has plenty of grunt for wallabies out to 200ish yards and accuracy is good enough too, its a fine wee deer rifle IF you keep range down to under 150 yards, mine has been shortened and wears a gunworks suppressor,taken half a dozen big reds with it no issue with single shot to chest, heaps of wallabies gone down to it aswell, the Hornady SST steel cased ammo cheap enough for a factory load and kills wallabies VERY VERY well.
my personal wallaby rifle is a zastava .223 again suppressed
between the 2 is a hard call,the .223 i=has edge on accuracy by a long way but the heavier pill of the 7.62x39mm makes it a safer bet for red deer. fallow deer would be fine with either as body weight is far less.....
both have much cheaper ammo than your twoforfree/EBRG and if you out shooting wallabies on a semi regular basis you either buy cheaper ammo or reload...... I never go out with less than 30 rounds, but then I just love hitting the auzzieoverstayers on the run.

If the 223 version I used once is anything to go by then it will certainly make you appreciate how much nicer your second rifle is when you replace it!

yip but it will always have a place in the cabinet as a rainy day rifle or as a loaner or for young fella to use,sometimes having a rifle you arent afraid to use and abuse is a good idea.
