Not a new toy but one of my long range rifles: Rem 700 SPS in 300 RUM, has a XCR stock which has been bedded around action and has pillars on the action screws. I floated the barrel.
It has a Vortex Viper 4x16 PST on it and a 20 MOA rail. The trigger needs a touch up but it's usable. Best group I shot with 208gr A-Max was 13 mm. Longest shot to date was a young Thar in April at 300 yds, all my other " long shots" have been 80 yds, and 90 yds on redskins, and about 80 yds on a young bull Thar, nothing argues with those 208's at 3180 fps.
Still has factory 26 inch barrel.
More Toys
Rem 700 BDL 24 inch Barrel (20 years old) just added a Vortex 4x16 x 44 on a 20 MOA rail, rifle is stock standard. Shooting 162 gr A-Max at 2955 fps, best group I have shot at 520 yards was 4.75 inch.( wind from right to left)
My main stalking rifle is a T3 Tikka in 300 Win Mag with a 2.5 x 10 Nikon Monarch with BDC reticle ( works pretty good) which my son and his mate bought me when he last visited from Canada. Only thing I changed was recoil pad , put a limbsaver on it to reduce recoil.
Pictures of My 300 Win Mag and a Bull Thar from the Baker Stream and a hind shot with 7mm Mag at 40 yds with the 162gr A- Max in the shoulder, she ran about 20 yards the bullet flew to pieces but still penetrated to the offside shoulder.
new toy today 75 finnlight 243
how many 75's do you have?
I was warned when I bought my first Sako, it changes you they told me. Maybe @buzzman is an example of what they were talking about?
singlehandedly shorting the nationwide supply of secondhand sakos @buzzman !
@moseman you like your magnums huh. That 300RUM is fair whipping along with those 208gr!!!
Sure do, have a 338 Win Mag as well, shot my moose with a loaned Ruger M77 in Alaska. Got a few standard calibers too, just like rifles.
Have had 3300 fps with 180gr bullets in RUM but not as accurate as those 208's. might try some of those new Hornady 212gr ELD-X one day when I run low on the 208's.
The younger brothers and I at the range the other evening with the new CSA VZ-58 - no idea what the chinese put in their gunpowder but it looks neat
Neat pics! What range?
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....
