Couldn’t wait for a Tikka 6.5PRC so I bought this Sako 85 in 270wsm and will probably rebarrel one day if I need to. Just finished making this new stock for her. Weighs 3.5kg as pictured, minus bipod. Bare Sako in original laminate stock was 3.4kg, so pretty pleased.

Got this from Kiwi Greg a week or two back and have been giving it a run .
Picked it up on a Saturday, walked into my hunting area Sunday , thought I’d better sight it in and make sure it went bang before leaving the car .
Ranged a rock at 150 meters, scratched an aiming mark on it , cranked the scope up to a massive maximum of 9 power , let rip 2 shots that went into the same hole basically.
Worked out that they were hitting about an inch high at that range , thought thats good enough for today ( where I was going a long shot is 150-200 metres) .
The weather and high rivers didn’t play the game , after 3 days I called it quits and went down the Sounds .
I burned up another 10 rounds checking the zero properly on paper this time and only changed things by 3 clicks .
I realise now I didn’t take any pics of those targets , but it easily shot 20mm groups and those will get better with more trigger time . Greg did load development for me and loaded up 100 rounds and I’m fairly sure he shot groups in the 14mm - 15mm range , which goes to show he’s a much better shooter than me
The only other thing I’ve added is a new bolt handle .

@ Ground Control... very nice and the carbon bolt knob is a nice touch. Where did you get that from?

    Also... what caliber?

Very nice mate.... we could debate that... but yes ,the 6.5 is a beauty ... it’s tough when you have others that can compete..... ENJOY!!!
