First shot from my new rifle today on it's first day at work.
Browning X Bolt .223 1-8 with a Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40 in Warne steel rings & bases. No plans to chop or suppress.
Ammo factory loaded Speer Gold Dot 64 gr. SP, chrono at 3020 fps from 22" barrel.

@rockland did the gold dot exit?
@Tahr no it didn't. Couldn't locate the projectile under the offside skin either. The smallish billy was quartering towards me at about 90 yd. Might've lodged in the paunch.
Next goat was a big solid billy shot side-on at 60 yd., that didn't exit either and couldn't feel it under the skin.
Gold Dot .223's are a bonded bullet optimised for short barreled rifles. I suspect that shooting them from a 22" barrel is getting faster expansion. Both goats were dead right there.
Used to use this ammo in 16", 18.5" and 20" barreled semi autos. Performance from the 16" carbines at 2760 fps was not so impressive on goats.
It works then?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
