Another couple of recent additions to the Safe.....

M1903 bought from a Forum Member. It started life as a Receiver made at Rock Island in 1919, and put into storage to be made into a whole M1903 by Springfield in the late 1920s. It was later refurbished in early 1945 where it received its 1944 dated barrel. It shoots bloody good! The group in the photo was the first ten rounds I put through it using GC Greek .30-06 Military ball (all 1977 vintage).

..and a common old Swiss K31.....

Marlin 336 in stainless and walnut. 30/30.

It's a Remlin/Marlington. Apparently early on they had quality issues, particularly ill-fitting woodwork, but they got it sorted. The wood quality on this is great with nice chequering. It'll be interesting to see what Ruger puts out.

Assembled (put the rings and scope on) my new "project". A pretty standard NZ set up.
260 superlight t3, lopped to just over 20inch (just before the flutes), half cock mod, trigger at 1lb. Dpt off my magnum. Have a m+ magazine which means can seat out whilst keeping the normal bolt stop.

Very nice functional set up. All you will ever need in NZ (not necessarily all you will want though). Shame the 260 seems to have waned in popularity lately.

man that 336 classic is very nice would like a bit more bang as a caliber 30-30 does not really rock my boat - my favourite if finance allowed -Winchester super grade wood blue pre 64 action in the classic 270 ( if one could actually get one here )

My longer term redo.. brought this few years back, have been running with a 1-7weaver classic. Ultra light. Never let me down however with the 223 filling the light short void I decided to complete this for a do it all Rifle.

Model 7 XCR, factory fluted 20”, 7mm08, lightweight bolt, Senator Carbon, talleys, G6 magnum, leupold Mark4 3.5-10x40 MillD

Ordered this Weihrauch HW60J back in July last year, with clean threaded barrel & match trigger. Arrived two weeks ago. Second visit to the range and I'm not disappointed!
With load now sorted using CFE223 its time to head for the hills.
