    Gun Shitty Anschutz Barrels

Hello - Gun City in Chch has a number of Anschutz take-off .22 barrels in various weights and lengths, several from the big 54 series target rifles. None of the staff know how they came by them or what their story is. I'm looking for a 22 (RF) chrome-moly barrel that has a chance of shooting well when turned down and fitted to a sporter.

Any knowledge of that these barrels are or how they might go??

Probably the best factory .22RF barrels ever, you can't wear a 22RF out, with a target barrel cut the chamber off re-chamber and re-crown,
as long as it is not rusty or pitted it will last for years.

What other .22 calibre chambers can be cut from these barrels and what actions can they fit?

Probably only 22 LR, maybe 22 Mag or Hornet at a pinch, Most of them are big heavy suckers with enough diameter to fit any Rimfire or Mini style action.

IIRC they are take offs from tranquiliser dart guns that were made from the Anschutz, well thats what I was told years ago.

Any proper jacketed bullet will wear out the rifling quickly as its profile is designed for lead bullets so 22wrm would probably be the best choice. Hornet bullets while thinner jacketed than the 223 are still probably a bit hard.
