Speaking of gunsmith challenge. Anyone used aluminium stick welding rods on their AR mag wells?
An itch ... is ... a desire to scratch

the challenge will be finding an ar to do it on after everyone has handed them all in plus I bet after all this is done if you all of a sudden appeared with one in any configuration youd get it taken off you anyway wouldn't it be easier to get yourself a howa mini

Wait till the law comes out. Mags can be shortened with a bit of TLC and a dremel. I'd never hand in a 30 rd mag if I can repurpose it as a 5-rd mag plus a bit of spare mag spring.

    From the police website:

Can I modify my firearm that has been reclassified so it is lawful?

    No.

I think we all know the police website isn't the correct place to get the actual facts about the new ban, they are still saying pump shotguns are going to be banned arnt they. I noticed the NZDA are now saying pump shotguns are to be banned as well.

Its been done many a times, I'm sure. The problem with projects like this is cost. It takes time to do projects like this with lots of R&D involved. Time is money and very few customers are willing to pick up the bill. Normally if something like this is build its done by a friend with time on his hands.

I once worked with a young smith that changed a enfield so it will fire 45 ACP. Lots and lots of manufacturing.

Nothing stopping you from making friends with a hardy good fellow that owns the right tools?

I would rather invest my money in a Howa mini in 7.62x39?
