Thread: Gunsmith recommendation - martini enfield rebuild

Hi everyone

I'm looking for a recommendation for a gunsmith to finish a martini enfield rebuild for me.

It's a parts rifle that is based around a 303 martini enfield action and an early SMLE type barrel.

Essentially it just needs sights sourced and fitted, and the forewood attached. Currently there is no attachment point on the barrel for the forewood to fit to.

The rifle has been with the gunsmith for 18 months now, and while the action has been rebuilt and barrel fitted, the gunsmith has said he isn't interested in doing any more work on it. I got a message that it was complete and ready to use. A disappointing 5 hour return trip to see key pieces not attached.

I'm not going to name the gunsmith, but he doesn't see it being finished in 6-12 months and he doesn't want to do it. he's charged me $25 for work done, and was embarrassed by the service he has given.

Any recommendation for who I should contact to do this?

I'm after a usable rifle, and it will be used for hunting. I'm not precious, but just want it complete.
