Help. Best length for CZ 455 .22LR

Wanting to get some advice on the best barrel length for a CZ 455 .22LR

It’s a varmint profile barrel and I’m wanting to get the best balance of accuracy, velocity, and barrel length.
My original thoughts were around 14inches, as I’ll be using both subs and SuperSonics. It will also be suppressed.

It seems everyone has their preferred barrel length, but wondering if anyone has some experience with the CZ varmint barrels in .22LR?
I don’t want to cut it too short, and regret it. But equally, I don’t want to cut it down and then take another inch or two off it after a month or two.

    Thanks for your help!

Gidday. I like 14", I've cut two very good 22s to this length with no regrets. You do need to run a suppressor with this length for balance and looks. Cheers

I don't think so, not really. I think most people accept that 16 inch gives you the maximum velocity. So that's all you really ever need. If using open sight then the longer the more accurate in terms of aiming.

When you chop down the barrel and threading it, There is always a chance that the thread is less than perfectly align, So that you may have to do it again. Therefore, you may want cut down to 16.5. Just in case if the thread wasn't very good, you can thread it again, and still have 16 inches.

I have a CZ 455 in .22lr, varmint profile barrel. I cut it to 16 inches when I purchased, threaded for dpt suppressor. As some have already said - for appearances you definitely want to leave the suppressor on as other wise it appears very short. Personally I'd probably go with 18 inches if I could have changed it, just for overall appearance without suppressor. Very happy ballistics performance wise though with the 16 inch, works great. If wanted can flick you some pictures of it to get you an idea of what it looks like. Hope that helps.

As above 16 inches is the accepted best lenght for velocity in 22lr.
If shooting subsonic shorter than this may have them going supersonic.
Also if shooting subsonic the longer the barrel the quieter it will be.

This is my 452 Varmint before and after it was cut to 16inchs, just so you can see what it will look like. Shoots like a laser. Like to others have said it looks a lot better with the suppressor on. Just a side note that if you go to short and carry said rifle over your shoulder that the end of the barrel will end up sitting VERY close to your ear, just saying.Attachment 167223

    Agree with comments above..

We've chopped couple of dozen 22s and range tested most. 16" is my preferred length - accuracy can actually improve with some makes if you do a good crowning job. If using suppressor I'd do 14".
