A little off topic but some different brands of "Loctite" use different colours. Just check your products details before just using red, green, blue etc It could end in tears.

Easy to remember 243... Same Loctite number as the mighty EBRG. It works to keep things firm but will undo without a jackhammer. When I couldn't get screws undone I cheated and gave whole shebang to good mate to do before I used angle grinder.

Depending upon which grade of LOCTITE was used, heating may not help. Basic Thread-locker range comprises:
LOCTITE 222: A low-strength purple threadlocker for various metals, ideal for disassembly needs.
LOCTITE 243: A medium-strength blue threadlocker offering a versatile solution for sealing and securing assemblies.
LOCTITE 263: A high-strength red threadlocker designed for permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners.
Any higher grade and good luck getting undone.
so do I take from that that 222 purple is the one to use for scopes ??
okay I have never ever used loctite on scopes and never had a problem - but have seen some horror story's of snapped screws - nothing worse than buying a rifle with original mounts and the screw heads are munted
