Have you decided to go with the ASE?

Interested in what way you go as I will trying to make the choice between these two suppressors soon.
Interesting that the over barrel DPTs have the same length forward of the muzzle, the same diameter yet the DPT has another 100mm over barrel.
Is the feeling the ASE does a better job suppressing than the DPT?

ASE sound suppression is the best I've come across, they're just heavier.

Not sure yet. I'm liking the ASE as I've had a few and like to try others. The length of them in appealing and also the sl5i weighs 350grm according to the web site

I've had a A-Tec Cmm 4 ALU on my Finn 6.5x55 for some time

Got another 2 baffles when I bought it, I rotate these baffles and never put it away with out loosening the threads
    It is Quiet and Light

I have a Waitaki Engineering one for my 223, AR style on a CZ bolt gun, I won't wear that out anytime soon I wouldn't think.

Did try one of his over barrel stainless on the Finn but just to heavy for me
If it was to go on a gun where I'd not be walking far from the truck and setting up to shoot a ways out I'd still have it.

Need to suppress my 30 06 the hound doesn't like it at all the way it is .
would normally have gone for another a-Tec but in my experiences the hassle to go through Stager to get anything he hasn't got in stock just far out ways getting another product. I'll probably end up with a DPT as a couple of fellows I know have them and they as happy with them.

Anyway they are the one I have had experience with.

    Thanks for that!
The best for noise suppression in my experience is the Greystone overbarrel. Just ridiculous but, it's a beast. I've not heard anything come close to that but I have not tried them all.
Happy with the SSRNZ one too but if I went for an Alpine build I want it light.

This thread was to gain some knowledge as everyone has their experience and opinion. It's hard to go past dpt as Darren does fine work and his products are excellent. He is also a pleasure to deal with so that ticks every box.
Very very keen on the ASE sl5i though as a mate has a bit more cash than me and he was the one after the info.

    SL7 & SL5.
did you compare your SL5 directly against the likes of a DPT, or just experience tells you the ASE is more betterer?

    I run Hardys
I know there just a tool but fuck I hate the look of dpts, I'd rather carry something a tiny bit heavier than look at the ugly fukin thing on the end of my bang stick,
I literally hate the look of them

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

Directly compared to Mae, dpt, hardy, waitaki and a-tec.

I think the ASE has a very tight tolerance so if your threading is slightly off you will have baffle strikes which a few people I know can attest to @Alonzo @shift14.

If it's purely for a 1, maybe 2 shot hunting rifle and weight/performance is key I would go for the a-tec. But after shot 2 they're blow on the pie hot.

I don't mind a bit of weight so run ase.

Shot last weekend at the club with a guy who had an ase on his 308 what a tiny thing!. Noise reduction wise both of us thought the dpt slightly quieter, certainly the ase pulse seemed longer and higher pitched. Both rifles in 308, though he was using 150 gr, and I was dialling in some 165s.

Did you notice any POI shift as the suppressor heated up?

Considering the ASE is stainless seems they have done an amazing job to keep weight down, certainly seem to do better than what their size would suggest.

Not shooting fast so no, never really noticed any shift even when i have on wallabies or goats. However 5 inches change in poi if i take the supressor off though.

Forgive me, if this is a dumb question, but can someone explain the reasons for adding additional baffles on the DPT suppressors?

More chambers capture more gas I would think...I'm probably wrong though.
