kiwigreg, which one of that lot do you reckon is the best value for money ? VX-3 ?, there are some scopes in that group double or triple the cost... ? Pity you had no Sightron S3's to compare as well.

Thanks Greg, though a far too un-biased assessment.....wouldn't be publishable in any magazine I read
For comment from the mechanically inclined : isn't 120moa going to be a lot more difficult to execute than say 40-60moa ? I would have thought it would be preferred to go with the smallest amount of elevation adjustment you could get away with in the hope that the precision in the dial steps would be better?
Anyone seen any info or reviews on the Leicas recently? Seems odd the scopes have pretty much disappeared off the radar given the position in the market of their binos and rangefinders.
VX -3 4.5-14-40/50 for sure
The 30mm tube side focus models have 120 MOA of elevation from memory ???

A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
I've got an older Vari-X with 120moa adjustment and IMO Leupold couldn't get it to work back then. Backlash and variation in step size is awful. VX-3 has the second erector spring to try and fix this but is 120moa just too much for a mid-priced scope?
Thanks for doing this review. If you still have all those scopes and setups available I would be willing to send you my two sightron s3 to compare, 6-24x50 and 8-32x56
Great stuff, your right about the subjective nature and different eyes. A little while back I did some thing similar with a VX3 6-24 a Nightforce NSX 5.5-22 , USO SN3 3.2-17 and a Sightron SIII 6-24. There is very little difference in clarity but in my opinion the Leupold was slighlt less able to resolve at longer distances. All the scopes were set at 17x as this is the max mag of the USO. One thing I did notice was contract and color, the USO and the Sightron seemed to be similar and for lack of a better word neutral. The Leupold was nice and the contrast was obviously higher than the NSK, it had a blueish tinge and contrast seemed lower but clarity was very good. If I had to pick one I would say the USO was the best by a smidge over the NSX and the Sightron with the VX3 close behind. Personally I own the USO, the Sightron and did own the VX3.
It must be very hard to test these as your eyes would adjust to any imperfections very quickly, like when your parallax is off but you don't notice till you take your eye away then go back, then you think how the fuck could I see anything?!
Got the ATACR on the 375 DCM this morning.
Very happy with it so far
Looking very nice .
As it is now I have over 110 moa up & 21moa below my 100 yard zero, so clearly this one has more than 120 moa
That will get me out past 3000 yards without using the reticle, (which has another 20moa) even allowing for BC degradation past 2000-2500 yards
I tried Reloder 50 with the 350 CE & got another 100 fps
