Good start with the 223 mini. With under 1/2moa
55gr winny box ammo to sight in and a group. Shot with 4x scope.

Look forward to doing some load development in the near future, but this is good enough to go hunting.

Stoked to see the stock perform.

I’ve seen a lot of good reviews of Bell and Carlson stocks for howas , what the best source for a short action stock in NZ?

I got one through Shooter Ready in Cambridge about 3 weeks ago. Very very happy with it. Varmint model with the aluminium bedding block. They are imported and supplied to retail by Outdoor Sports NZ. However I think they only had a couple in stock then. Call Outdoor Sports and ask for Dion in sales, he’ll tell you what they’ve got in currently.

    I had a B&C competition model on my .223
They are bloody heavy and for my application it just wasn’t the right Stock for the job so I sold it .
If you plan on getting out of the Ute and walking any distance then adding a heavy Stock to an already heavy rifle is something to consider.
The Stock was very good and well made , but just didn’t suit me .

    This is what got:

    https://www.bellandcarlson.com/index...tegory_ID=1074

Weighs 1300g. Irrelevant because it’s gone on a heavy barrelled varmint rifle for hill country prone shooting, accessed strictly by four wheeler!

Very happy with the finish and fit to the barrelled action. It replaced a KRG Bravo which I never really got on with.

I just haven’t been able to get mine to group at all. A couple of fluke 3/4” groups then repeat the load and get 2”.

Multiple groups keyholing then a flyer way way off. Scope and mount is well proven and it sounds like an obvious bedding problem.

Check bedding, reflect on my shooting, check mag box, reflect on my shooting, check barrel clearance, reflect on my shooting, re drill the action screws for more relief, confirm I can still shoot other rifles fine, swap bipods, troll the internet and start wandering if action screws are torquing the barrel (who knew this was a thing), clean barrel again..

Why oh why did I not inspect the crown earlier.

Running a paper clip over it clearly snags in several areas around the crown. It’s really difficult to photograph

Unfortunately I just modified the trigger and with 150 rounds down it I can’t see it getting replaced under warranty. Will be taking it to a gunsmith soon.

I really like this set up so hopefully I can get it to shoot.

Bought a Mini action with a "heavy" barrel that shoot like a champ with Belmont 77gr SMKs.

These are all shot from bipod in mostly field conditions (back of the farm), utilizing a small rear bag.

Could not be happier with how she shoots... until I run out of this unicorn ammo. Might have to pull some rounds apart and try to replicate them with the once fired brass in future.Name: 20211208_174349.jpg

Gunworks do a beautiful recessed target crown if you go that way but a quick tidy up of the crown hopefully will be cheaper than a rethread if that’s all that’s needed

    Heres my vanguard.

Same same as a howa less the name.

    Weatherby vanguard 308.
    Stug stock
    Vx5hd 2-10
    20" suppressed.
Limbsaver to increase LOP for my gangly arms.
    Trigger tuned to 2.5lb.
    Running 168gr TMK at 2680fps.

    This rifle just absolutely fucks.

Shoots almost any factory load within 1 inch and handloads it only gets better.Name: 20220827_174124-edit-20220827174216.jpg
