    Howa Launching New Mini Action

Looks very promising, take a bit of weight off fra dedicated varminter.
Can see it being used for some 300BLK builds!

That could be very nice. 300blk or 7.62x39, good on Howa. The CZ mini actions are great in .223 and 7.62x39, just wished they did a 300blk aswell. Very smooth and fast the CZ carbines.

Just been thinking about it, 7.62x39 necked down to 6.5 or 7mm and improved, anyone hazard a guess what performance you would get?

Hmmm - very interesting, I wonder if we will get barreled actions here in NZ like they did the mediums.

looks to be just a shorter version of their short action receiver and not a reduced receiver diameter, so not much point.

The benefit of a "mini" sized action comes from the smaller receiver diameter enabling "improved" feeding for 223 boltface cartridges. Ever tried single feeding a 223 in a Rem 700, Tikka? PITA they just dont work! you have to poke the projectile into the chamber or they stop dead on barrel end!

The current howa actions are a scale up of the old sako l571/ l 579 action.
Howa could have reduced their new mini action dimensions back to what sako used to make ( and these were 243/308 win size action, not even the smaller L461!!!) in a more compact package.
That would have been perfect in proportion, and could suit anything from 22 and 17 hornet up to 7.62x39 and 6mmbr.

That and the Option of having an ar or mini 14 mag to feed the beast ! ( pacific tool is making a magazine box for rem 700 that takes ar15 mags. So it can be done)
