hey all, how hard would it be to alter the inletting on a synthetic remmy stock to make it fit a Howa/Weatherby?

I've done it with a long action rem700 timber stock, that I made fit a short action howa. The action screws are about the same, the short action howa was about 2mm closer together than the Remington long action.

I ground down the rear tang on the howa to fit the curve of the Remington in the rear action area. I also changed the shape of the metal on the ejector port side of the action, once again to match the opening on the Remington stock.

The action area was opened up in the Remington stock to fit the square howa action, then I filled all the gaps by bedding it back in...perfect!

Oh, and I used the Remington bottom adl metal as it looked better.

I wouldn't try with a plastic rem stock though. Wood but not plastic

Not so much hollow, more the plastic will be really hard to shape properly and then refinish to be able to bed in properly.
