    A hypothetical situation

So... I have a friend coming to NZ from the USA later this year. He is to stay for one year and he is an avid hunter. Due to firearms being considerably cheaper in the USA he would like to bring one along. However, he might get short of money in NZ and sell it to me before he comes home, probably for a similar price to what he bought it for. Then if he ever returned he could just borrow it again. Convenient huh!

Would this be legit, and if so... What should he bring? He would have access to a 22-250 and a 7mm08 in NZ anyway

South island.. A bit of everything but keep in mind have a .22, 22-250 and 7mm08 available for him... Really wanted to know the legalities first.

I'm not sure how hard it is to get guns here but Unless you doing long range stuff I would say you're sweet as with what you have. Maybe a shotgun for duck shooting would be good.

He would need to get a Tempory NZ licence - Contact your local arms officer for further information
If he was to sell it while here I think you would need to discuss it with the local arms officer at the time he wants to sell it. I would guess he would need to write an import permit for it. But I believe what ever guns he brings in on a tempory licence he is expected to leave with.

Ok... So If he ends up filing an import permit does that mean he is require to fill out an export permit from the USa
