I'm trying to understand the hate...guns a guns a gun. Its this division amongst LFAOs that led to the centrefire ones under the ban hammer, amongst many other types.

As a aside , I have a hammerli in ,22. I find the ergonomics with quite good. I can understand why they had a following.

The problem is some people still believe that they can out-comply the ever encroaching legal firearms restrictions.

Others are happy to have less shooters so they can have "their" hunting areas and shooting ranges for themselves.

I think that some people also somehow think if they support banning everyone elses guns theirs will somehow be safe. I should put that in the things you find amusing thread....

you misunderstand me...there IS NO HATE from me...seriously ,there isnt... BUT I am however enough of a realist and have been alive for long enough to read the writing on the wall and see what poking the bear causes.
twice now we have seen what happens when this practise is continued and becomes "the acceprted norm" by default..and then some nutter goes off rocker using one....... the ANTIS and the POLIES all scream...'but ...but...butt...but we changed the law so this type of firearm was no longer allowed.....and then the ANTI POLIES bring out the thinly veiled big stick again and push their personal barrow a little closer towards the end goal.

Pistol grip makes it better for prone shooting. Look at the grip or grip angle on every firearm stock that isn't based on an antique design.

Okay take ya word for it mate - just trying to get my head around why someone would want to buy an AR 15 look alike over a more conventional wood blued - I need convincing they are not just wanting to look Rambo like - perhaps I need to use one - they just look awkward to me -as if they would not handle well

its OK Barry...... we know the SxS shotgun reached its pinnacle of fine handling and pointability some time in middle of last century....and the BP single rifles, along the lines of what our Buddy @akaroa1 has restored, reached similar lines, at same time...funny how a large feline trying to eat you,or a large bovine trying to gore you when you have only a single shot, or at very most ,a double shot to make it count terminally, meant that fast handling and instictive pointing mattered A LOT.... we likes what we likes...and thank goodness we arent all the same.blonds Vs redheads and all that.
Im picking that 3" 50 calibre Whitworth will come up to the eye oh so smoothly.....different strokes for different folks
and before someone argures the AR style was made for "other dangerous game" that shot back....it also was made/designed in full auto and spray n pray was the normal method of deploying it .....

We are in 2023 now. Not everyone likes wood and blue, theres so much more choice these days. I cant see why someone would want to hunt with a bow and arrow when tou can use a gun. Its just what they like and we all like different things...

Because I like Toyota's and my mate likes Nissans - same, same. We all like different things and just because somebody decides they dont like a certain configuration, look, colour etc, doesnt mean we all have to follow that persons likes. Be a boring old world if wee did eh........and dont forget the "15 minute city". I've never fired a real AR, would love to. I can see the benefit in a very fast 17. I happen to like semi's, just cos I can. But, those that know me also know that wood/blued does it for me too. Lets not jump on the bandwagon of the anti's and continue to vilify our fellow law abiding LFO's just cos they dont have the same tastes as us. Lets all stand together for once and stop giving the anti's and the popo fuel for their warped arguments as to why we should not owb firearms at all.

yes you are likely right I dont want a bow at all done to many trips and met bow hunters and their success rate was extremely low and they had paid good money to fly in - why not take one rifle and at least fly some meat out but there ya go - I will leave this thread not convinced that an AR 15 look alike is not much more than that - I want a Volquartson thats my holy grail - but the early stuff does it for me - nice old Remington pump - but good read here

@kotuku cack handers and right handed semis isn't a match made in heaven.
I've also heard reports from my old uncle Charlie the old takedown browning semiautos with the bottom eject were a demon for spitting hot cases down a sleeve if you weren't careful lol.
I don't mind pistol grips at all, even made one out of sheet alloy for the pump shotty.
Plastic stock on a rifle nowadays is a non event.
If it's a semi 22 and it holds well and shoots ok that is a big tick
