Already got it a stainless action and barrelled 300 blackout shoot both supers and subs.
If I wanted more range for supersonics a fast twist 308win would basically do the the same job as a blackout but with a longer barrel.

Quite interesting seeing the difference in replies between this thread and the linked one I started a few years ago.
Quite amazing how fashions change

A Sabatti Tactical hunter wth a carbon barrel in 300WM....
I been heading down this track over the last year and selling off rifles I don't need or use .
I ended up with my .260 and a .223 but then sold off my .223 and kept a .260, and as for the why. When we go after fallow the .223 is near perfect but then the .260 adds another 100 to 200 meter's of range.
If I was shooting alot of smaller game ie goats and wallabies then yes I would have a .223.
But for me I mainly hunt deer so the .260 is perfect.

18-20" 308. 110gr vmax/130gr speer HP for cheap pesting, 150-165gr gameking/corelokt etc for general hunting, 168gr eldm/tmk/vld etc for LR hunting or targets and 180-200gr interlocks/gamekings/prohunter etc for big stags in the roar. Suppressed with a quality 2-10 or even 3-15 scope depending on the individual you have a rifle easily capable of bush bashing or smacking game over at 500m. Probably be mega boring and make it a tikka with a LA mag and bolt stop too
This is my "one" rifle a Ruger scout with synthetic stock. I've used it on deer, goats and in an IPSC match. One of the things I like about scout rifles is you can set them up for different situations. Use the irons or a red dot in the bush or chuck on a suppressor and a conventional scope if you want to take longer shots. .308 may not be the "best" but its proven, cheap and available in different weights.
I also have a .223 and a .22 both are great at what they do but if I could have only one it would be the scout paired with a shotgun for small game.
It would have to be an old Winchester model 94 in 30/30 with the short barrel and saddle ring
Just ONE rifle? ...I can't believe you'd all want to carry on living!!!
An easy question with a simple answer. It has to be a 25/303 in a Boyds stock.
