I like the idea of a .260, in something lightweight and accurate with a nice (but not too fancy) wooden stock.

Nobody keen on the classic old .30-06? Bit more grunt than a .308.

    I could do a lot worse than my 20" 7mm08 remmy 700.
7mm08 is a pretty decent all rounder. For what I do anyway.

If I didn't have experience with a 9.3,The old classic 30-06 would be my pick.World wide there are some mean critters that need serious damage done to them if you don't want to be a red stain in the dirt. You need something that can get the job done not only when it goes right but also when it goes wrong.

Most people I know who bought one then decide they want a short barrel, ... and load down to suit it. Then they get told that they might as well have just gone for the mighty 308 in the first place.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

To be honest if I could only have one rifle it would be a .22 LR .
If I could cheat abit it would be a R93 with a .22 rim fire and 308 barrelled set.

30-06 really has no advantage over 308 with 150gr pills anyway, its not until you use 180gr or bigger that the extra case size actually gives an advantage.
