I'd still choose the 7mm Rem Mag
I'd still choose the 7mm Rem Mag
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
7mm saum 21 inch tube McMillan stock and on a ti action
NZ ? The old mans win mod 70 featherweight in 270, made around 1992 - one of the last of the push feed model but I couldn't care less as shes smooth as butter, more accurate than both of us and fits like a glove... soon to be mine hopefully
For Hunting ,
Mauser 66 , in 7x57mm
Magnum Mauser in 416 Rigby
Sako .308
Dan M
I've probably said one before earlier in the thread but unless it was a M12 Mauser in 8x57 I changed my mind
I'd probably choose a pair of stainless sakos in 30 06 and 338, I reckon if I can't kill it with either of those I've no business hunting it.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Ture, however maybe I was mistaken but I thought the original post was one for nz and one for other.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
My good old trusty sako finlite in 7mm, will take anything in this country and then some...
7mm Rem Mag, just alternating the projectile to suit the game being hunted, you will cover 99% of the hunting you would ever do, not interested in shooting Cape Buff or Hippo, 180gn Berger Vld will put down anything else. Worth remembering Roy Weatherby hunted and killed Cape Buffalo with a .257 Weatherby Mag using a 100gn Partition, one shot kill. Maybe not a full frontal charge but the point is made, you do not need a crew manned weapon of surface to air capability to shhot most game.

There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
.223 Pretty much my go to calibre for everything these days. The other rifles in my cabinet get jealous, I'm sure
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
