It's almost not a pointless onerous imposition, no, wait, it still is

    Update time!

Got my import permit in the mail last Friday. As you may recall from a few pages back the local AO was putting the screws on me for hand ins, clearly this was not the bar of entry he made it out to be, the only reason I put down was "magazines for open class service rifle". I got three pieces of paper, entitling me to import five various AR15 magazines, and one various AR15 pistol grip. I'm assuming they say various as I put generic down for the brand so as to keep my options open. Which may be a good thing as it may be that Magpul gear is off the menu again, as when I emailed Sandy at Brownells for a shipping quote I was informed that the Pmags I inquired about are not able to be shipped internationally. I'm waiting to hear back from her on whether I can get some Brownells Tactical mags instead, but it's slow going as you seem to be limited to one email per day, and one answer per email. Will update when I get more info to hand.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's just a manufacturer thing, but the responses I'm getting are so short and vague it's mind boggling.

They are just canned responses. Sandy and Neijse are robots.

Any recommendations on alternatives to Brownells? Cabelas looks like the shipping me be a little extreme.

Cabelas won't ship gun parts internationally.

Cabelas is a terrible store and you should never shop there

Well that answers that then. Have settled on five Brownells Tactical magazines and a BCM Gunfighter grip. After nine emails I'm back at waiting for a shipping quote. It's like teaching sign language to a blind person.

Got my reply a little earlier in the week, $55USD (good call Banana). So now I just buy the stuff, and then when it turns up at Customs they will hit me up for import cert, which I send them?

Pretty much. I check the tracking details, when they say 'customs clearance' I send the permit. The letter from customs can take fucking ages.

    Damn right.
A friggen $5 recoil buffer for an AK in one of my orders held up everything else for 5 weeks by the time the letter arrived.
