Exclamation It's called a carbine, not a bush pig.

I just wanted to bring attention to the trend of referring to a shortened down hunting rifle as a bush pig.

I'm not sure where people got this "BushPig" fad from, but enough's enough now, can we all kindly go back to calling a carbine for what it is.

A bush pig is not the same as a bushpig. Trust me, a bushpig is very unwieldy and not user friendly - I speak from experience. A bush pig seems to be somewhere between a carbine and a scout rifle, with optics and the 'legs' to reach out a bit when needed. The focus is on being compact and handy rather than purely lightweight. They are almost invariably also suppressed as the short barrels make for lots of tinnitus and deaf hunting dogs.

"Bush pig" rolls off the tongue better than "scoped, suppressed carbine"

That's true, but you can also just say "Carbine", I'll assume it's scoped and suppressed in 2025.

William is related to the German given name Wilhelm. Both ultimately descend from Proto-Germanic *Wiljahelmaz, with a direct cognate also in the Old Norse name Vilhjalmr and a West Germanic borrowing into Medieval Latin Willelmus.

    Sorry, Willelmus

I'm happy for those things to also stop.

I have never seen someone carry ice axes when there is no ice, but it seems like something someone who calls their carbine a "bushpig" would do.
