    Sorry, Willelmus

    Bushpig

I could live with "Vilhjalmr", I'm from Dutch stock so Willem I'm used to. But, would be interesting to see the etymology on how Bushpig came about

I agree William, but I prefer the term 'chode'.

Bush pig reminds me of high school girlfriends

I call a gun, a gun. Irregardless of shotgun, rifle, muzzle or potato. And by definition, that's exactly what it is, a gun. A rifle, a shotgun, all guns. A mate was anal about it and determined that a rifle was not a gun. On this one, a carbine is a short gun. A bush pig, is a slang term for a short gun, but that's not what a bush pig is by definition

Carbeen is when a Toyota Corolla has rusted away to nothing.

Concubine is when the working parts of a Carbine are broken. Some men have been known to have several or many concubines. Maybe they need to look after their carbines better.

I don’t know what the word is for when the working parts of a bush pig are broken.

Just don’t get people started on the ’half cock’/‘half open’ thing.

William to you, Bill to me.

My grandparents liked the name William that much they named their first two children William, one went through life as Bill and the other as Alf (after the father)....they were living in the Naki at the time so that might help explain it.

Heathen , try calling a rifle a gun in the army . A gun is a shotgun full stop .This is my rifle, this is my gun! this is for fighting, this is for fun .

Exactly. Language changes all the time. New Zealandish is no stranger to names being shortened or substituted by nicknames. I don't particularly like bushpig, but don't have a problem with it either. I don't use the term, but if someone says bushpig in a hunting/shooting context, I know exactly what they are talking about. Super bushpig always gives me a laugh.

Yep. William is right. People who call a carbine a bushpig are the same kind of retrobates who call deer "donks". Fuckwits, I mean.
