The stock seems to be very stiff for a plastic one.

The colour is a little different but easy to get used too

    It has a detachable magazine

It is essentially a Montana with a detachable magazine in a cheaper & about 100 grams heavier stock.

This one weighs 2.450 kgs, 5.64 lbs, the calibres available are, 243, Jaffa & 308 for a RRP of around $1900

A very nice rifle for the price, they even come with a MOA guarantee

Hi mate, excuse my hidden under rock like knowledge, although I have never seen such a Thing?

how does it supposedly stack up to the Montana?

Edited to say , I see what your wrote below the pictures, an went on the website, my Montana is still lighter

I own a Montana 84m an absolutely love it.

    cheers

Great idea from kimber to bring the cost down a bit. Bet in the us they are competing with the T3.
Are they going to do a long action?

Bringing cost down... It is a bit like a Ferrari with steel wheels instead of mag wheels.

It seems a bit too "ruger American/savage axis" to me for a rifle that cost what it does

The Kimber seems to do premium ammo and handloads like my Howa does Anerican Eagle (loose group) and Corelokt (left hand tight group). I don't think the exchange rate does the yanks any favours.

Try running up a hill with a Howa, and you will see why I have a kimber.

A Kimber is around 400 gm lighter than a Howa. When I gave up smoking I put om 8 kg. 400 grams can't really be bitched about.

I haven't handled the kimber but I have handled the Ruger and the savage, they are a big step below tikka and howa in fit and finish and the factory plastic stocks sucks compared to a tikka or x bolt stock. Im betting the kimber is more at tikka level than ruger or savage.
Price wise it competes with the x bolt and A7 synthetics, but if gregs weights are correct is a pound lighter. If the fit and finish is good and they are as light as claimed, then I think its a good addition to the market

I had a look at one today in HF manawatu. It didnt have the bolt or mag in it so I couldnt judge on those points. I liked the kimber because of its weight, short action and size. However, i suppress my rifles and the barrel is so thin I wouldnt want to. Fit and finish is ok, nothing to write home about. The new Tikka t3x was sitting next to it and despite the long action and added weight, the larger barrel and proven reliability and $300 less would have me buy a tikka still.
