Kimbers are nice rifles - great balance, great triggers, great saftey & very light. ( I like the carbon stock & hate plastic so this doesn't float my boat ) also I hate the high bolt lift would have to be my biggest gripe & with the shit NZ dollar are bloody expensive now but I love my bush stumpy in "Jaffa" cal & no I didn't get sanitary pads with mine as I brought it 2nd hand bugger !!

The stock seems to be very stiff for a plastic one.

The colour is a little different but easy to get used too

    It has a detachable magazine

It is essentially a Montana with a detachable magazine in a cheaper & about 100 grams heavier stock.

This one weighs 2.450 kgs, 5.64 lbs, the calibres available are, 243, Jaffa & 308 for a RRP of around $1900

A very nice rifle for the price, they even come with a MOA guarantee

Hi mate, excuse my hidden under rock like knowledge, although I have never seen such a Thing?

how does it supposedly stack up to the Montana?

Edited to say , I see what your wrote below the pictures, an went on the website, my Montana is still lighter

I own a Montana 84m an absolutely love it.

    cheers

Great idea from kimber to bring the cost down a bit. Bet in the us they are competing with the T3.
Are they going to do a long action?

Bringing cost down... It is a bit like a Ferrari with steel wheels instead of mag wheels.

It seems a bit too "ruger American/savage axis" to me for a rifle that cost what it does

I haven't handled the kimber but I have handled the Ruger and the savage, they are a big step below tikka and howa in fit and finish and the factory plastic stocks sucks compared to a tikka or x bolt stock. Im betting the kimber is more at tikka level than ruger or savage.
Price wise it competes with the x bolt and A7 synthetics, but if gregs weights are correct is a pound lighter. If the fit and finish is good and they are as light as claimed, then I think its a good addition to the market

what do we think the chances are of projectiles hitting similar POIs... I have a load of 139gr hornadys and the same powder charge for the 140gr Woodleigh....

I really do hope the loads hit within close of each other... as above would be a dream haha.

Kimber montana 7mm 08 is what I'm using

The handloads are pretty anemic I will have to sort some more loads out. Factory Hornady shoot nearly as good as the reloads so I might change projectiles.

The Kimber seems to do premium ammo and handloads like my Howa does Anerican Eagle (loose group) and Corelokt (left hand tight group). I don't think the exchange rate does the yanks any favours.

Try running up a hill with a Howa, and you will see why I have a kimber.
