Thread: Leaving your Suppressor on.....what happens.

My 10/22 has a suppressor on 365 days a year , I do clean it semi regular though & aside from carbon build up on the crown the barrel looks great , I never leave a suppressor on any centre fire though.

subsonic 22 are lubed, I have been wondering if I can use a similar lube on my 308 cast subs to cut down on the need to clean after firing, as im using it all the time

Crown looks fine and threads would clean up with a wire brush...

I dont remember much from school but I know dissimilar metals react.
I don’t and won’t leave my suppressor on my rifle, but as we all know barrels are consumable items so after 2000 rounds you need to think about replacing it.
For some that’s a year or two, for me it’s two or three lifetimes.

I always remove suppressor, they attract and trap moisture, better to be safe than sorry.

The crown was a mirror polish finish....
At that time I was new to suppressors having only used Bare rifles in Germany. Learned the hard way.

Always stored with suppressor, bit of discoloring on threads but i thought that was due to residue being blown back when firing.

I used to store rifles with suppressor on (before learning better), never noticed any bad effects on mine but I don't risk it now.

A mate bought his first rifle from one of the country’s biggest hunting stores. They push for the sale only, not for the basic maintenance of the rifle and suppressor, he got it sighted in all good and shot a few targets then took it home put it in the safe, three months later the suppressor welded it self to the barrel it been like that for the year and a half.

Get it real hot then use some poly grips with a rag,worked for a mate

No tried a different ways she a gunsmith job.

I do what the instructions that came with my DPT said to do - after shooting, take suppressor off, take it apart and clean it with WD40. It then sits in the shed in pieces until the next trip.
