Pack out heavy
Jesu i'll have to scrub up on uploading pics but in short this week i hope to fire this for the first time...i got it off Ross Collings ... his father Din built it and as the story goes it has yet to be fired...the barrel sure looks good and here's hoping it will shoot ok...if not i'll be asking Grandpamac for some advice !
I'll see how she shoots with the box of factory ammo i found then i'll post the results...
Im sure you will have had plenty of fun with those likely lads ! Nice work on the Martini giving it the No4 look...how do they hold up shooting groups at 100 ?
Haven't done a proper group with the martini, have zeroed it for trash tier corrosive ammo and I ring steel plates with it haha. The no4 shoots well as it has a like new H barrel fitted that has been shortened and recrowned. From memory I wasn't trying too hard and got 2"-3" with decent ammo. Could do better with better ammo or working up a load (or tbh improving my shooting skills)
On the topic of 30-40 Krag are there many Springfield Model 1892–99/Krag–Jørgensen rifles in NZ? Never seen one for sale. Interested in them.
Well I brought home a Lee Enfield threaded Din Collings 30-40 barrel today
Dated 2008 and made from a Browning machine gun barrel
Bore is absolutely mint
The job lot included dies and 60 new cases
So getting closer to a 30-40 single shot
I thought I might drop the LE barrel in a Martini Enfield action and have an interesting single shot
But someone might want it more for one of those new fangled bolt action Lee Enfield's
The 30-40 Krag between 30-30 & 303
