    Legality/proces for converting a gun to B-Cat

So let's say someone has a B-Cat endorsement and they want to cut down a shotgun to pistol length and register it as a B-Cat on their license. Is this possible, and if so how does one go about it?

You soon to become pistol has to be on the list of approved pistols so if it’s not, I think you will find it would be illegal.

This for sure.....it has to be "approved" it used to be you may have got it on a "C" but then you can't actually use it

Any gunsmith with a dealers licence can do the conversion legally but it would still need to go to Wellington to be approved for a B endorsement. If you do the work yourself then it still needs inspection and approval in Wellington (at your expense). Talk to your AO first to see if need a permit to possess a pistol before you start the work. The Arms Act is far from clear these days and the AO advice probably won't be totally correct either but you will have covered your arse.

I forgot to say that I am not aware of any Pistol NZ event that uses shot pistols so approval for a B cat will not be happening until such an event exists.

I thought Kea Guns fell under B-Cat but now that I'm trying to check I can't confirm. The ones Gun City have for sale just say "endorsed" but don't specify which license, and the police websites "approved firearms" list has been taken down and just says "Due to the recent firearms laws changes some firearms-related information is under review." even though its been well over a fucking year.

I see a security inspection and audit of your firearms (to ensure they are over 762mm length) coming in your near future.

    Just a hunch.

Eh fine with me, I wouldn't be asking this question if I was just going to illegally cut down an A-Cat.
