Could anyone please where would you call the start of this barrell as reference point so if I when I send it away to be shortened and threaded would he measure it from the dead start (Thin end)
or the part where it steps out to larger size ? Thanks

Close the bolt, insert cleaning rod to contact and measure that....
Tell the gunsmith exactly how much you want off the muzzle.... don't worry about the overall length.. less complicated that way.. lees chance off error from working out differing overall lengths..
Tell the Gunsmith you want it 16" from the bolt face. They should be able to figure that out.
If you don't get Dirt, Blood or Grease under your nails it ain't a hobby
whats the fixation with 16 inches?
mines 16 inches and missus never minds
2short 1 long and its a great action
works every time

Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
from memory you only need 12" to develop max velocity in a 22 RF....
don't know if that would be such a good idea with subs.. might stay at 16" then..
my ruger ejects fine with a 15inch, convincing as ever. subs is all i use.
not a take down tho. but still brand new. so all the springs would be stiff as they ever will be.
The accepted traditional measurement point is the action barrel joint to the end of the muzzel.
