I recently got a 130 year old marlin in 4-40 beautiful gun, wish they still made them like this with the octagonal barrels.

    Pedersoli 86/71 boarbuster

Hi all. Has anyone had any experience with the Pedersoli? I’d like another big bore lever gun, having sold my Marlin some years back, but the price of a new 1895 trapper is outrageous! I’m picking the build quality of the Pedersoli will be outstanding, but just want to know how they shoot. Not excited about too eject either but I guess I could get a scout scope.

Some nice Savage 99 in this thread, in the past I owned a couple of 99 in 243 both had the rotary mag, but the first centrefire I ever bought was a Savage 99CD with Monte Carlo, deluxe checkering and detachable magazine in 308, wish I'd never sold that rifle, I've never seen a 99CD since then

Well done. I have aged brass overnight (or a couple of days) by mixing little bit of water with black powder and then rubbing that on the brass. Will age it perfectly.

Nice I'll have to give that a go sometime too.
I use a method of warming the brass with a butane torch and painting on a mix of 50%salt 50% white vinegar then leave to cool.. wash in hot soapy water and repeat until you get the required patina.
The wood was stripped of all its horrible orange varnish and aged with used diesel oil then the usual linseed ol build coats.
I added a saddle ring too because.... saddle ring
.45 colt black powder cowboy loads are super fun.

The scope mount is a bit different https://www.davide-pedersoli.com/en/...ster-mark-ii-2

How much is an 1895? A Pedersoli is $3500 https://www.magnumimports.co.nz/prod...evolution-4570

Came across this old unloved compact M8-4x33. Had to spend a hour carefully drilling out the screws to remove the old mounts and apart from a few scratches, its actually a pretty decent scope. Wasn’t sure what to do with it but had a light bulb moment as well as a set of steel Tasco rings to suit and bingo, a good match for the safe princess. The scope owes me nothing so will probably repaint in a nice satin finish as the princess can’t be wearing anything tatty. Has inspired me to take the wee magnum out for a walk around the paddocks. It’ll be ideal for a bit of hare shooting me thinks.

Thanks MD. I’ve tried other scopes on her but they all looked wrong. If I had a bit of money to burn, I think one of the newer FX fixed powers with modern glass would be great. And yes, she’s had her tail docked and has the relevant paperwork to prove it. It gutted me to do it, as apart from a missing rear sight and the odd minor mark, she’s an absolute minter.

Getting a little bit of a lever gun urge, and as much as I appreciate the wood, blued and such I don't think I want to spend good coin on a really nice specimen. Something utilitarian that I can bash about in CNI bush and not care too much about, in .44 mag is what I was thinking. Anyone have anything to say about the Citadel Levtac? Good or bad.
