    Little bit of help ??

Nah not a what caliber question. More like a have you the experience shooting consistently like this to help suggest something
I don't want to do my normal 10 gun purchases to find what I really needed for the job ha ha ..

I need a little help with a caliber I ve not had a lot to do with plus possibly brand selection for a dedicated carry round pest controller.
Wood stainless or plastic stainless fine. Wet conditions it ll get bashed round..
Targets at 200 to 250 meters consistently but bloody flighty. Houses here and there not in the actual shooting area but subtle is good .
.223 just not doing it for me at present. Good gun but bit heavy. But its perfect for some of my other stuff.
Fast and flat needed. Was thinking 22.250 or would .204 be better? Rabbit and Hare size targets but yeah flighty as hell and long shots.
The guy s have been popping away at them heaps from way too far away with .22s with no luck making it quite a hard job at present.
Managed to get quite a few so far . No where near enough though ..
Cant be too big or noisy so 50 cal no good, 6.5 no good or trust me Id be using mine... 20 cal light weight sort of style ?

Any one have any thoughts on a 200 to 250 mtr lite weight ? I have a REM700 7mm Magnum to sell to fund this with
quite a few good bits so a trade if it came up could work ?

Sounds like the perfect job for a suppressed .223 and some fast moving lightweight projectiles like the 50gr V-max.

    Cheers

If you got rid of that fancy stock off the 223 it wouldn't be so heavy

Or fun. No after different tool . So you'd say lite weight 223 for the job ? I want to keep my current one in its current form for other stuff and target shooting

I had very good success with a 204 for what you are describing. A 223 would do it fine but sounds like you want a new toy

Mates got a savage 204 stainless laminate that he's looking to move on. I'll ask him what he wants for it. It's a bull barrel, dunno what length though. 204 is awesome, not much shoots flatter, and it seriously fucks up little critters

I'm probably not the best person to ask about shooting small this things at those distances. You know from seeing the forest block now that there is always something to crawl behind to sneek a bit closer
I can't see how a 22/250 will be a real improvement over a 223 given the distance though.

    Try this then happy
Could though, be just a tad more spendy

Looks like, since you've discounted the owned 223 for the work needing done that you want a new rifle, thats alright, nothing wrong with that.
Trouble is your calibres are limited within the confines of what you have posted above
    rimfires are to short ranged
    17 hornet?
17 rem mag. no way I would seriously suggest that.
Supressed 243 with 55gr? Thats getting up there.
    Centerfire Choices I see are
Another 223 set the way you want.
Lightweight 22-250 set the way you want.
204 [ losing following and resale] set the way you want.
