had to shave a bit here and ther off the mag to sit home close enough to all ow for the play in the tikka set up. also had to pack the rear of the housing to tighten up tolerances as the back of the mag had too much slop and sat to low even tho the front was home tight

rounded the back corners too. I could have relieved the difference from the action but chose not to muck with that... mag still works fine in my long action tikka anyway

sitting well. I need to relieve the holes for the pillars before I glue this in... and find something to use for pillars lol. And also do a touch more shaping to bring the edge down level with the trigger guard so I can finish the carbon tidly

they use this timber for surfboards with resin and fiberglass and without, just a wipe of oil. it has good water resistant qualities.

pillars done, trigger guard glued down. fitted an extra washer under the guard to engage with the pillar. used very light pillars so will need to lay off the rattle gun to tighter the action screws lol.
just drying time before a final shaping of the butt to line up with a tikka but pad. might go limbsaver if it kicks me lol.
will also shape a small timber tab to go between guard and mag well.
    time for dinner

Do you think this would be possible with an A5 or manners eh1 shape?

I imagine the carbon wrap will strengthen the pistol grip enough but If I just shaped up the wooden blank and stained it would that be too weak?

Awesome project man I’ve been hanging out for your updates.

Ive been hunting with my Grendel with a blanck stock with a much thinner wrist than this one, went way to far by accident but never got around to carbon wrapping it. i havent fallen down the bank to test the strength but its held up well. its not pretty as it was just a throw together to get me up and running... then I was running... after a goat I shot and snapped my calf muscle and was laid up and lost the mojo for that rilfe for a bit lol. I think I may just carbon wrap the wrist and stain the rest and keep hunting... tho a full carbon will look great lol. function vs form lol
I will post some of the grendel stock before I finish this build

the Grendel has a torch taped to it and tape around the switch. Shot a stag at 120y the night before in the torch light... thought I was aiming at the chest but he must have spun as I fired and I hit it in the but cheek... no bone damage, no gut damage, just muscle damage in the butt... went 10m down the hill and piled up. I thought I must have gone up the gut chanel once I saw the bullet hole. but upon gutting it was obvious that the shock must have stopped him. 123 eldm 15" barrel
