    Looking for a semi-auto rimfire

    Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a semi-auto rimfire, trying to avoid the cheapest of guns such as the Rossi.

I’ve been leaning more towards the likes of a tactical-styled gun, such as the Kel-Tec SU22, GSG 15, CZ 512 Tactical and similar rifles. I already own a CZ 452 (bolt action .22LR) and a Zastava .243

    Some of my considerations:
*I’d like it to be silenced
*I’m aiming for under $1,000 if possible
*Iron-sights or capability for a red-dot would be nice - some shooting would be up-close possums.

It may end-up being a duel-purpose gun (hunting and plinking) - if I consider hunting then it would have to be a .22WRM and then only goats or maybe pigs. Primary use will probably end-up down range.

Keen to hear your opinions - What gun should I buy?

I had a 512 tactical, didnt like that you need to take the scope off to clean it. Went to a rossi semi in 22mag , it's been great.

Why's that? I hear good things about the SU-22 - accurate, reliable?

Would that be the Rossi 7122m? I've heard the trigger is pretty bad - is it adjustable?

Sorry mate cant remember the model number. It's a cheap runner and I guess the trigger probably represents that but it's no worse than a milspec ar trigger. Its 100% usable.

Update: After researching the GSG-15 I've decided not to go for it - it appears the build quality isn't great.

Now leaning more towards the Smith & Wesson M&P 15 - though it is more expensive so I'm keeping an eye out.

I had a m&p 15-22. I'm actually considering getting one for my boys. Good wee rifle if you dont mind polymer. Very light, accurate enough for general duties.

A basic 10/22 will do everything or anything a tacticool 22 will do, probably cheaper too.

100% on both counts. I do prefer the ar setup. Safety, bolt release, mag release position make it quick to operate. I guess its depends what you're used to.

@vorno any interest in this? would let it go for around $700 without the scope, has iron sights and has a lot of interchangeable aftermarket parts available

    I forgot about this thread!

Thanks for the offer. I have since found my new rifle - a Voere Model 2114 (1973) with Kahles Helia Super S2 4x Scope (1963)
