trip to Brisbane might be the go too.

Good excuse for a holiday auckland to Brisbane is cheep at mo and a cheep chch to auckland is under a hundi return

Yep...got immediate family there...but estranged... bugger.

Got the tracking details, shows scope lost NZ side of ditch. On phone now to AMI as they will cover lost in NZ not overseas. Shows the scope was delivered FFS!

I had a rifle (that's right, a rifle!) "delivered" to me, said it had been delivered and signed for and everything, I definitely didn't receive it, turns out the bloody thing had been delivered to some person way down in Oamaru! I got it in the end, courier company had their tail between their legs on that one... if that's not a breakdown in the way the postage/courier system works I don't know what is!

Sometime customs can hold onto them cant they? If theyre over a certain dollar value.

Yes but tracking transcript shows AOK.

UPDATE:

AMI paid out the value of the scope (not customs/gst and minus excess) but $2330 is better than a kick in the teeth. Will have to find the extra to replace it but hopefully they can send as replacement and avoid 2x customs and GST.
