One thing worth considering between the 140, 6.5 & 162, .284 is the recoil will be significantly less for the 140, assuming equal ballistic performance.
Mag length with a decent projectile position will be compromised with the 162 in the same short action.
My old 26" 260 shot 140s extremely well out to 1200-1300 yards, after that the wheels started to fall off.
At ELR the slower heavier high BC projectile will be better than a lighter faster apparently equal one.
Knowing the area you are shooting pays big dividends compared to unknown areas.
Getting a heads up on windage dope is an advantage as well, but its even easier to shoot a pre-shot/pre-doped rifle well especially if shooting straight after the original shooter.....
