Ballistol.

Per my earlier post. Ballistol for everything external. If really grubby in the bore Hoppes #9 on a wet patch, soak 10 minutes then bronze brush and follow with a dry patches until clean then a light ballistol patch for storage.

Pull it out and run a dry patch through before use. Sorted.

crc 808 silicone for outside / inside bolt, action - silicone grease for inside the bolt/firing pin, break clean the action/ bolt when dirty after afew weeks in the bush then re-lube and repeat

So the consensus is basically anything you fancy

+1 for Ballistol.
Also it smells pretty.

Or whatever you have that isn't a drying gumming oil like some of the crc or wd products. And don't get silicone near lenses, it's a slag to get off and there's a high chance you'll take the coating with it. That's any aerosol really... Also some products eat plastic stocks or soften wood.

I use Ballistol down the barrel to stop pitting but I kroil it out before a day at the range.

A mate picked up a stunning student teacher at a famous Hastings watering hole in the 70's after he had gone down to the pub after coming out of the bush. Still had some Hoppes on him after cleaning his rifle. She was entranced with his aftershave. He ended up marrying her. Unfortunately they went to Aussie and he never hunted again.

The part of the barrel if free floated off the stock, use vaseline or other thicker grease on this as you won't get to it regularly.

Likewise. Does a great job on all metal.

Remington oil has been my choice for external use and especially for longer storage in barrel - swear by it - but corrosion X and break free is also great -Hoppes no 9 for barrel cleaning- I certainly would not use Hoppes for storage or on exterior metal its simply not designed for that -its a solvent not a protective oil - in my view and those who should know like a gunsmith mate CRC should only be used to loosen nuts -- it can get into places it should not - I take a little bottle of break free for overnight trips and will pull a rag with it on thru if I suspect moisture in barrel
