Thanks for the heads up. I have some cfe223 that I was using in 308 a while ago.
Picked up the Howa Mini today. Having bought it sight unseen, I was quite surprised at its diminutive size and can already visualise how compact and lightweight the end product will be. Certainly see why there’s so much enthusiasm for them and perfect for anything from zip to 100-150m.
Where are your thoughts leading you @Howa1500 ??

I think gun works make a flush mag for the minis for $195
100gb serria hollow points are awesome aswell They shot awesome in my old Grendel haven’t tried them in the new one yet got a box here and fully intend to though I want to try the 100gn bt aswell
Yeah I think you’re only losing about 100fps on factory 243 ammo 100gn 243 factory is doing about 3100 from memory but that’s from a 22-24”barrel
The Grendel will do 3 k with a 100gn (good handload) from 20”
So yeah it’s just a 243 in a way smaller more compact package
Nice. The Alpha model would be a sweet rifle or are you thinking wood?. Don’t think the Trail would be much use as the Grendal would fit that role much better for the same sort of money and a lot lighter.

When i was testing factory ammo in my dads 18.5" barreled 243, when i was developing a handload for it, 100gr Federal blue box was running over the chrony at just 2600 fps, I got my 100gr handload doing just shy of 2900 fps. A longer barrel 243 will likely gain a chunk more velocity thou, but doubt it would be 500 fps, over the 18.5" barrel.
I got lucky and scored aCZ600 in 223, been running it for 2 months now and theres not much on it I dont like. I got the basic Alpha HB and chopped it to 20". Balance at that is great and the new flush 5 shot mag is brilliant. About the only thing is mine is fussy, you gotta play to find what it likes. Shoots consistent groups 20mm and under once you do. Cheers
