Thread: Maniatis Suppressors

Alright I just got back from the range. Intent was to zero with the new suppressor. Results/ observations:

- Sound reduction/feel when firing was fine. Difficult to really tell in the closed environment and field shooting will provide a better gauge but no issues so far.
- The suppressor has a bit of play when tightening firm on the thread. All my others basically hit the shoulder of the thread and go firm straight away where as this one takes another good half turn plus as you feel it bitting in.
- Accuracy with my 142 LRAB load went from accurate to scatter gun. Wasn't even on the paper at first. Instead of sub moa it is now 2" groups. I suspect the change in harmonics has completely messed with what already was a super fussy load.

Intent from here is to see if I can work up a new load with the 135 classic hunters that I have already tentatively done load dev for with the old hardy suppressor. If it doesn't shoot well trying to do a load with those then it will get flicked but I expect it should be fine.

Interesting observation. This would have been a good opportunity to shoot a group with an without suppressor. To go from from sub moa to 2moa with the exact same load is pretty severe.

Maybe a bad day behind the trigger or your load isn't a constant sub moa performer?

Would have been interesting experiment anyway with the only change being the suppressor.

what thread? mine got done 1/2 x 28 and its not a solid thread compared to my bergara 14x1 got told not to overtighten it because it can/ will strip threads only do it up
hand tight and no more it will go more but was told not to

Thread is M14x1 and the Hardy screws on quite different, goes nice and firm straight away. I would give myself a severe look in the mirror if 2" groups were my own doing lol, the 22LR I had with me went fine so my shooting should not have been an issue.

I wish I had taken the Hardy with me so I could have swapped straight back and confirm it was still good, not that it has shot bad since doing the load so I don't really doubt the rifle.

Think I over exaggerated that a bit, more like a quarter turn to go firm.

Intresting keep us posted I did a can vs no can shoot off 2 weeks ago the load was developed without the dpt and is an honest inch always 2 shots ontop of each other and a 3rd that opens it from .2-.5 to 1 moa every time cant/havent bothered to pursue any further tuning as it's a point shoot hunting rifle and it's always the 3rd shot in a string that's out. Interestingly as per every other 3 shot group that's what it printed 1 inch high and dead center for the first to and the 3rd half inch to the right this time tidy tidy group. With the dpt it was near the exact the same pattern if I cut it out and over layed it elevation was the same but the group moved over 1.5 from centre. Bloody handy

Another update, have been re doing a load with the 135 classic hunters. I think i’ve found the spot but i’m away with work
again for a bit so will have to finish that later. I never imagined such a large POI shift but it’s definitely quite a difference. Will
be a wee while until I can report on it out hunting sorry.

Sold it. Not the suppressors fault, just had another niggle with the rifle I had to sort and then didn’t want to burn any more ammo so sold it and stayed with what was already setup.

I've got a maniatis on my 16 inch kimber hunter in 308 and it shoots bloody well. I personally can't hear the difference between the maniatis and dpt so defintely doing something right.
