    March v Nightforce

Hey all so looking at a new scope for midrange work and only really need 2.5-10 mag and a illum reticle. But looking at either a NSX 2.5-10x42 or a March 2.5-25x42T. I think theyre around the same coin ?

Anyways keen to hear from those who have them and pros/cons of both.
    Cheers

never tried a nightforce but my march 2.5-25 x42 is fantastic not illuminated though and it cost a pretty penny so if bling bling money aint a thing go march

Can’t comment on the March scopes but highly rate the NXS 2.5-10x42 with digilum and zero stop, the illumination is awesome and have shot plenty of deer on last light we’re a non illuminated scope wouldn’t see the reticule. Good solid dial up clicks, heaps of elevation, very robust and a bit lighter weight than the other NXS models. The rubber scope caps that come with them are ok in open country and will pull open if nocked around in thick scrub, they seal well in rain and dust riding on the front of the quad bike too. They do come with a power throw lever for the magnification but I don’t use it as it snags on stuff. I run the MOAR reticule for easy hold offs if i don’t have time or want to dial. The only downside is the cost but it ticks a lot of box’s for me.

I have had both and currently have a 2.5-25x52 march, if you only want 10x magnification then I would pick the nightforce over the March, if you want more mag then that's the benefit of the March, both have nice turrets and zero stop etc I had my 2.5-10x42 nxs on a 260 ackley and it was perfect for it

    I've had them both.
If good glass is important to you get the nightforce the 42 March is like a dirty bottle to look through in comparison.
Best to have a look yourself as we all have different opinions on glass.

My experience in owning both was the glass in the March was better - that was comparing a 3-15x50 NF to the March - both at 10x and 15x. I still own the March not the and. From memory the cost of March is a bit more than Nf ? As others have stated the NFs are pretty much bomb proof but very heavy. I would recommend u check out other options like Leupold VX6 or 5. There’s a fancy illum Zeiss 3-12x50 on Tardeme u might also want to consider. Euro glass is usually superior to either options u are looking at.

Plenty of options for ya really

I'd take a Swarvo Z5 over a March any day if only needing 13.25moa elevation, don't over look the NF SHV good scopes for the $$$ if not worried about weight, But the best value for money at the mo VX5 leupy
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Iv got both scopes your asking about and a 3-24x42 ffp March

The glass in the March is slightly better than the NF as far as I can tell
Eye box feel the same at = mag but gets tighter in the March up above 18
The March has a lot smaller black ring when looking through it than the NF
The size is almost the same the March is around 10mm longer in the objective bell area and a couple mm lower turrets
Turret feel is very close between them slightly bigger click to the NF which is nice but 10mil per rev vs 5mil for the NF makes March the better of the two
The zero stop on both is good but way easier to use on the March also the turrets don’t come off on the March and are zeroed with 3 set screws vs 1 on the NF
I hate how the illumination/parallax nob on both stick out so far so I got the March non illuminated with the low profile parallax nob which I’d rather have than the illumination.
Reputation of relialiablity goes to the NF but in saying that iv got another NF 2.5-10x32 that has developed a black spot on the lense and after struggling for over a year just to try get replacement turret screws for it I don’t think I’ll bother trying to get it fixed. The guy in nz that looks after March is very good to deal with and I don’t think there will be a problem sorting a scope issue

But if I was picking one the 3-24 ffp March wins
The reticle works well and the mil value is allways correct.
Dunno about price as I got the NF second hand. The non illuminated March was around $3100-$3200 new and illuminated is up around $3800 I think

I wouldn’t bother looking at other scopes if your after good mil-mil compact scope but if you don’t mind Moa then there are then there are a few others as pointed out.

I’m only up around matamata if you want to have a look through them
