    massave barrel channel small barrel?

have recently had my rifle rebarreled from a very heavey barrel to a light one i have not fitted a new stock as yet is there any issue apart from looking a bit funny to shoot it like that? the action is good and solid to just in front of the recoil lug but the barrel as about 7mm under it and 3mm on the sides

Sounds well floated to me. The only issue I can think of would be crud getting stuck between the barrel and stock. I have a similar "issue" with a project rifle I've been working on.

I make all my rifles like that. Most "floated" barrels aren't really floated when fired, as the barrel and our pressure from bipod can cause touching.

If you give your rifle a few sharp wacks on the underside tip of the forend and you hear it tap the barrel, then it's not properly floated. The more flex the stock has, the bigger the gap needs to be.

Just use it as is, it will be awesome.
