Fuk yeah mate , ye 308 is a great performer

That length barrel & good accurate factory ammo like the Sako stuff, you'll be humming out to 300 yards
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Before i cut mine down, i weighed up these 2 podcasts and the wisdom of the forum. I haven't shot this out past 100 yet, but everything I've heard says its good out past 300m. The 2 episodes go over the data of a 16" tikka 308 but the maths still stacks up on a longer 308 of a different brand. The 2nd one shows the same rifle shooting out to 1000m so thats a capable bush pig. I heard that going too short comprimises the benifits of the supressor so i kept it at 18". I might go shorter in future.

If you have access to a 200m range, I'll let you run a few rounds through mine.

My recent 308 came as 17" and is bloody usefull at that. Factory 168s at 2500 fps, normal 155 reloads ( that give 2920 fps in a 26" barrel) 2600 fps and tailored "short barrel" 155 reloads are doing 2730 fps. That makes it easy a 600M deal on game, although I've never taken a shot past 350M . . . It's always easier to stalk a bit closer than justify a wounded or lost animal.

Thanks for all the reassuring pointers, deal is done and I've bought it. A big thumbs up to Gunworks for being 150% helpful & obliging!.

I've got plenty of time and am in no hurry to put it to use, next step is find a scope OR wait for the right scope to come up for it.

Now I need to put a scope on it, I don't see the sense in putting a 2 and a half grand or 3k scope on a short barrel for bush or close open clearings, otherwise I'd happily chuck a vx 5 or 6 or a Burris on it.

    Thoughts on these please?.

Nothing wrong with secondhand leupold or burris scope.

save 100 (at least) buy buying second hand from here (or turdme) instead of Gun$hitty...
