Mauser M18 action screws - shout out to owners

Gidday Folks- a Mauser M18 in 308 has just joined the rack.

On its initial strip down I noticed the front action screw (which is a reversed arrangement from normal) wasn't "tight" to the reciever - it can be turned by hand, is this normal?. It looks like the barrel may have been off this rifle at some point and I wonder if it was reassembled correctly.

    Thanks

The action screw has flats that engage a slot in the stock so it doesn't turn when the action nut is tightened but it's still kinda unsettling

Drop Mauser a line and ask. Info@mauser.com

They are pretty good at responding. I asked them the correct torque settings for the action screws on my M18 and they stated 5 nm was what they use.

Nothing. They must have sent my query to the NZ agents, who wrote me a very defensive message saying it wasn't a warranty issue, I tried to engage them by pointing out I wasn't making any claim but they didn't reply. Pretty poor. I dont think they even recognized what I was talking about.
