@LookingForMauser Are you looking for a Mosin? Are you after anything in particular. I know someone who is considering selling theirs. But not to someone who wants to chop it.....

1953 Polish made M44 carbine. Only modification ever made to it was chopping off the bayonet lug when he got it in 1990 cos it caught up on every bit of scrub , bush lawyer / twig he walked past. All matching numbers and not used for around 25 years. I can add pictures if anyone wants. To be brutally honest I am surprised he is considering selling it as it was his first rifle he ever bought. He paid for it when he was 15, nearly 16, and had to wait until he could collect his F/A license from the local AO on his 16th birthday. Got the license and picked up the rifle same day....

I was looking at listing it here, but I am not 100% sure what it would be worth. I know rubbish ones in reasonable cond go for $600-$700 and would not want to short change him.

I was thinking of listing it at an absurd price like $999 and getting people to PM me their best offer, but I do not think the Mods would go for that as it is too much like an auction. I was looking to list it on Trade me at $750 and see where it goes. If it does not go for that much I will pay him myself and hang onto it in case his son ever gets interested in shooting. (plus I really like it too)

Thanks for your offer @timattalon, but I will continue looking. I'd like to own m44 and I'm not gonna use it as a bush gun so m44 without bayonet not really my thing.

I sent GC a message last week sometime explaining that they should not be advertising those rifles as 1907 Carbines because it’s very clear that they are bitsa rifles.

Adding “repro” to the listing title doesn’t really do justice and I’m still considering sending an email to the commerce commission regarding their website pages as they don’t explain at all that these are 100% NOT 1907 carbines.

They might be cool little Mosins, and for $200/$300 I would certainly buy one. But $900 is robbery and misrepresentation of what they’re actually selling.

I would rather be shot out of a cannon, than squeezed out of a tube.
