Unsure why you'd want an AI brake on anything

Just heard that ODL maybe making some brakes , at about 1/2 the cost of the AI tac brakes .

Also the Brits had a gunshow last Friday , and the Brit agent had one of the 338LM cans from ODL on display , seems to have generated a fair bit of interest in ODL cans for some of the long range shooters in the UK .

You want it to last 1000 rounds + at that price. Mind you i have been told 338LM barrels have an approx 2500 round life span. I wounder if it will outlast Stainless and solid Titanium?

It is solid TI , the 1st 3D printers had relatively weak lasers , and they did not fully melt the powder , and as such the strenght was like a cast product , however the better new 3D printers have much more powerful Lasers & as such the product is virtually the same as solid billet material , its now fully melted .

I think if you 3D printed this design in SS Inconel , then yes it would out last the TI model .

I would be happy with anything over 1000 rds on barrel life , but would not expect that much beyond 1k for top accuracy .

Here are the cans and a prototype cover. I never built anything with fabrics before so this is mainly about materials selection and thread design to keep as much of the kevlar thread outside the insulation. Please do not consider this cover quality as something I would sell. It is merely a test unit til I can get a pro to sew it up.

Because this can mounts over a brake, I would warranty it for minimum of 2500 rounds 338 LM and would be disappointed if it got fewer than 5000 rounds from it. The can is a real porker at about 275 grams but the extra material went into making the aft section much stronger both for the pressure effects and to minimize the damage to the can if dropped or fallen on when it is dismounted.

I am looking forward to testing the changes between this can and the first one. The first one was quite comfortable to shoot without muffs shooting a variety of ammo through it including about 20 308, 20 300 WM and about 20 338 LM. I don't have the spread sheet in front of me but the muzzle noise was about 141 and the sound at the shooters ear was around 134 from memory. I am hopeful that the new changes will get the muzzle under 139 and the shooters ear to 132.

I did hear from the UK that there is a bit of interest. This can was developed based on requests from there. I fully intend to make a brake and can for other magnums and will keep everyone updated. Thanks for the interest.

275g porker! Wow. Most cans on the market would be overjoyed to be that light. Awesome.

Some of the others are in the 1.5Kg weight range and north of $800, so that isn't actually unreasonable if it can be done in a screw-on no BS seperate break type.
Last time I asked him he said its in the pipeline but a few years away
Remember to add $350 for the AI muzzle brake to the $1485 which makes this an $1800+ suppressor.
You'd be better with a Terminator brake and $1000k in the bank particularly on a lapua.

Also keen for DPT to do a 338 can, have asked about one myself also and hopefully there is enough interest to get the ball rolling.
A lightweight titanium option at a realistic price would be awesome!
