If you are sure the issue is with the rings, take the scope off and run a straight edge (metal ruler, etc) between the two. You will find out pretty fast if there is a height issue with your current ring/base setup. You really don't want to be clamping your scope down on rings that are different heights. Also like what is said above, max out your adjustments both ways then settle it in the middle (count clicks) as you may have sticky adjustments.

Finally got a chance to count the clicks on the Leupold. Three hundred and one for drop and three hundred and twelve for windage. WTF? Now I'm wondering is it 1/8 MOA per click. Is it a customised scope? So many questions, so little ideas. Any thoughts anyone?

Over the years I have had two leupold scopes with problems, the easiest check other than checking the basic screws and mounts, is to laser sight in bore and then check that the scope redial is moving vertical and sideways. It may be possible to get a shim kit for the bases, think you said Burris bases, I have had shim kits with there signature twist in two piece bases before.

I'm heading in to Kaimanawas on Thursday so have set up a nikko stirling gameking on the rifle for that. When I get out next week I'll persevere with getting the leupold set up properly on her. rogers.270 I counted the clicks to find the centre. I expected to find under 100.

A quick look on the net & it should have around 67 moa in it which is 268 1/4 moa clicks, so your 300 odd isn't that far out.....
