Would be interesting to see if this technology is every adapted across other Sammi cartridges. Not sure about action strengths of current rifles vs the back country standard. Creedmore performance from a grendel, winmag performance from a 308 or 06, rum performance from a rem mag?
Probably never happen but who knows

I'm skeptical about the claims that barrel wear isn't increased with increased pressure. Yeah some guy on YouTube said that. Evidence?

I think the barrel wear thing is a bit of a moot point, if your buying this cartridge because you want 3k with a 170+gr pill in a short ish barrel, the only other way your getting there is with the likes of 7 mag/7prc/7saum/28 nosler etc with a stinking hot handload and at that point your giving everything a hard time including the brass and surely best case scenario wearing the barrel out just as fast (more likely faster) than the backcountry.

True, if you want those numbers your barrel is going to be cooked fast no matter how you achieve it

Be interesting if the current AMP setups can handle the new casing.

Even if barrel wear is an issue ,how many of us are realisticllay going to wear a barrel out hunting ? Sure we might do it if were at the range a lot .And at the end of the day performance costs ,you dont buy a Ferrai if your worried about tyre wear do you ? This might be the way forward to get higher preformance with resnoble trade off s . And barrel wear didnt stop folks building Fatmaxs did it . Its a new cartridge and only time will tell if its a worth while idea or not just like the 7mm rem mag was in the sixties ,and im sure alot of the discussions around the campfire were just the same then as they are now

Horizon firearms have made 100 or so of these rifles since October last year, they've tested this cartridge fairly well by the sounds and are claiming between 1500 and 1800 rounds worth of barrel life, which if accurate isn't that bad at all considering. Another train of thought i had, with the likes of the pressure being pushed up to 80000 because the case is hard enough to take it, then assuredly, hard brass the likes of adg can handle extra pressure right? If so, 7prc can get 3000 fps from a 20" barrel with 175s and re26 no problems. Mine is, and primers are happy as, no sticky bolt lift either. That being the case, many other cartridges could benefit from harder brass right? Maybe this technology will pave the way for opening up Saami specs to an update or atleast variations, legalities aside.

Question is how much more kaboum do you get with 80000 psi when a patch has been forgotten or a barrel got an obstruction Vs a normal 60000 ish psi round?

    Law of diminishing returns.

A custom 7mm08 (1-8" barrel, 3" magazine) shooting 180 ELDM's at 2600fps is going to be enough gun for 99% of hunting situations near and far.

A Rem Mag/ 7 PRC will get you to 2800-2900 fps easily with a 26" barrel with the same bullet...

To say a 18-20" barrel could have even greater muzzle velocity? You are going to have to be able to handle a rifle very well to see any benefit, especially if it is light!
