Case capacity for the 7PRC is 73 grains of water

The rem mag is 75 grains

Well in the case of some of the old firebreathers like the 264 win mag, slower the better.
RL33 is meant to be very good for it.
    Maybe that or possibly H1000?
Or is the capacity not quite big enough?

It was always going to be pretty similar to a 7mm rem mag, near identical case capacity as per above, no free lunch.

    It’s all about marketing.

I convinced myself I needed one, I really like it but I was never planning on using factory ammo. I’m sure people without a chronograph will think they are awesome.

Shot anything with yours yet Phil?

Not if they’re trying to validate using box velocity’s at $100? A box all the same proving very accurate

The best cartridge appears to be anything that likes to burn RL26…

Seems all bold claims about performance these days relies more on the powder than cartridge design. I hope ADI are developing something to help supply the market in this space.

Projectile designs that create lower pressure and allow hotter loads + the right powder for the job is really the only meaningful leap in performance we have seen in the last few years.

Yep, you’re bang on RL26 will get you an extra 50 - 150 fps in many calibres. That’s been my experience with 284, 7SAUM & 7RM. The Hornady marketing hype is all focused on their new PRC cartridges…… but truth is the max velocities quoted rely more on the powder than anything else.

Many of the powders the manufactures use are not available to be purchased

The powders used often provide a significant advantage which cannot be duplicated with the ones we have available to us

    I shoot a 7mm prc .....
this works for me . !75 gr eld-x at 2950 ft/sec , motivated by 68 gr of 2217 or 67.9 of H1000 , any mag primer you like , COL 3.3 in ADG brass , 24 inch barrel , shoots sub MOA .

Mine shot well with RL26 for a 20" mid 2800fps for the 180grn.
I think the main reason for the cartridge was that the 180grn fits in a standard Tikka mag seated 20thou off the lands
Seems to be a lot of RL 26 about to land.

So the 7PRC SAAMI max COAL is 3.34” same as 300WM and 28 Nosler.
    7mmRemMag is a smidgeon shorter.
300 PRC is 3.7”” same as 338LM meaning it needs a different action which will slow uptake.

No obvious reason why 7PRC should be a lemon. 28 Nosler seems well thought of in the states, so is likely to be its main competition.

300 prc fits a normal long magnum action

Is RL26 what people seem to be preferring for handloading the 7PRC? And is that because it’s getting you that 50-150fps mentioned above ?
I’ve stocked up on H4831sc but wonder if I should be keeping an eye out fo r26

26 or 2217 would be my picks adi powders are more temp stable slightly slower but cheaper and more available animals won’t no the difference and it’s only a few more clicks at the end of the day I loaded 2225 in my blaser mag when I ran out of 26 very accurate
