Buy the Rem then. Suppress it and buy the Nightforce. You asked for advice not me.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I'm shooting the 162 A-Max in 7Mag and it is a good bullet. Can't help with the 30. Unless your hunting off a quad a big heavy gun is going to eventually fuck you off. Same goes for an over scoped setup.

k, let me get this straight... you feel your current glass is limiting, and you want to upgrade the rifle coz a 208 amax wont fit in the mag.
    we're talking about 800 to 1000m shooting ?
call me stupid but, um, how about loading a single round of 208 at a time, forget the mag.
have you shot 208 singles out of your Tikka ? results @ 800/1000m ?

    None.
Might be a bit nicer to shoot and possibly easier to tune but weight won't make it a shooter.
Have you read about how light some of the local hunting "gurus" are building big guns?

terry, i don't have enough experience with optics for those kind of distances to give you an informed answer.
in general, I'd say shoot/practice until you are beyond the capabilities of your kit, and THEN upgrade...

speak to kiwigreg, brads, lr or some of the other long-range guys on here, but be prepared to spend scary money
