RE your Qs about the brakes , mine have different numbers to your one , BUt they appear the same , I dropped a loaded 338LM round into the brake body , and it clears , close but clears , so thats the bullet dia plus the brass case walls either side .
I have asked some friends in the UK to see about the numbering of them as well , when I hear back will post .

I get the impression that the 300WM , has a similar sound level by the meter , BUT sounds louder to the ear as the peak pressure lasts twice as long .

That is absolutely the case. It also holds true for why subsonic sounds much quieter to the ear than supersonic even though the meter may not have much difference between the two. The perception of sound is very heavily influenced by the duration of the sound. A subsonic round will have only the sound from the explosion while a supersonic sound will have that, plus the duration of the supersonic crack. The crack will get less over time as it travels away from you, but the sound duration makes it seem louder because it is longer.

A suppressor on a bolt gun can keep the explosion sound bottled up for longer than a semi auto or FA gun because you have more time with the bolt closed. From checking Quickload, the muzzle pressure from a short barrel (10") 556 can actually equal the muzzle pressure from a conventional length barrel on a 300 mag. However, the 556 pressure will rapidly drop where the 300 mag will maintain due to more barrel volume which is necessary to efficiently use the powder charge. So a can needs to deal with the pressure and the volume for a given round as well as the dwell time of the closed bolt. All these factors contribute to the perceived sound. Simple really.

Gimp, the monthly up date is send me an email. The can is ready for test as a prototype. I need to run a set of sound tests this weekend to make sure I fixed one issue and then you can run it. It has one flaw that will be fixed on the next version and then it will be ready for sale.

The brake mount is going overseas for trials and is production ready. I need to do some tooling for faster assembly but the part works well.

The AI cans need testing on a magnum for sound but from all analysis should sound very good.

They are designed to be shot with subs but can be used for a ltd duration with supers for operational emergencies.
