Reality is I've only shot a dozen deer in my life and they were all under 170 yards so not hung up on 400 - 1000 yard performance (got the wsm regardless)... Not sold on anything right now.

    Your 270wsm will sucessfully shoot deer from right at your feet to way out yonder.

    I've got one of these for my bush gun.
    Rossi Puma 44 Magnum Stainless Steel 16" Barrel

    Fitted one of these sights
    Rossi Firearms

    Loaded up some rounds with these projectiles
    Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Bullets :: Handgun :: Choose by Caliber :: .430 44 CAL :: 44 Cal .430 300 gr HP XTP®

    And got these results @ 100m, settling on 13grs of HS6 doing 1290fps

    If your keen on a slightly different calibre to most have a look at a M92 Rossi in .45 Long Colt

    Just remember it's hard to Hunt sucessfully with two guns...... unless you have a gun porter that is

    Cheers

    9.3x62 and .444 Marlin both very good bush guns that will hammer Fallow to wild cattle. A new Marlin may be harder to find than a 9.3. Bigger dia bullets are usually very accurate and not so fussy for reloading.I have both and will take the tripple 4 if shots are likely to be under 200 yds the 9.3x62 if the area has some slips or clearings where shots could stretch out to 400 yds. For open country I have .243,.270,30-06. But for bush shooting BIG HEAVY BULLETS rule in my experance 9.3x62 =286 gr .444 =265 gr meat damage is much less than with the small high velocity bullets.

    How much do you have to blow, I remember reading about this guy turning his lee-enfield into a .444Marlin it was really nice when he finished it, was his samber gun.

    It's ok, we have a multi-gun shopping spree support group

    Several members here are recovering... (or not)

    See, we are all very helpful. You came asking about buying one more rifle, in only a few short hours we have you well on the way to buying at least 3

    I suggest buying a sweet lever action. Because they're much cooler than Another Boring Bolt Action.

    Go to the penthouse girl of the month and order a .500Ne double rifle like the one shown there. All your mates will be either jealous or have a crap taste in guns

    Its a terrible affliction! 3 weeks ago when I got my .375 I was convinced I didn't need any more rifles, I have now convinced myself I have at least 2 calibre gaps! Dammit! Wife is gonna be pissed!
