It's not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.....Sir Edmund Hillary
Its not a package deal is it. Neighbors boy saved hard and bought an a bolt package. Gets upset cause its all over the place.
I have a look, the scope wont track, I take it off, the rings were loose, the scope rattles, and for good measure the rings were oval.
Swap the rubbish for some weaver rings and put a spare vx1 I had on it and it does what brownings should.
The retailer will sort it
The before and after impact shift you will see will be down to reduced recoil. If your smith is good, then the recrown that comes with a thread job should improve your accuracy and precision (the potential of you the shooter and your rifle)
The before and after impact shift is due to altering the harmonics / vibrations that the barrel goes through while shooting.
As an example - I have a magnetospeed chronograph which straps onto the end of the barrel, I run it on a really heavy gun (20lb) with a barrel that's almost an inch thick at the muzzle.
Strapping the magnetospeed chrono onto the barrel, which only weighs approx 100g or so is enough to move the point of impact.
Test it for yourself by strapping any random weight onto the barrel of your gun, or even just shoot your gun with the barrel touching something, e.g. rest your barrel on a shooting bag/pack instead of resting the stock on the bag.
The principle is the same as above - anything attached to, or touching the barrel changes the way it resonates during firing potentially altering POI / group size.
